Shipping container sizes explained
What size shipping container do I need?
A 10 ft container (~560 cu ft) suits tools and small storage; a 20 ft (~1,170 cu ft) holds a 2–3 bedroom home or 8–10 pallets and is the most popular size; a 40 ft (~2,350 cu ft) fits vehicles, large equipment, or bulk inventory.
What is a high-cube container?
A high-cube container is one foot taller inside (9'6" vs the standard 8'6"), giving extra headroom for shelving, racking, workshops, or conversions. Choose high-cube if you'll build out the interior or store tall items.
How much can a 20 ft container hold?
About 1,170 cubic feet — roughly the contents of a fully packed 2–3 bedroom house, or 8–10 standard pallets. It's the go-to size for most residential and job-site storage.
